2026 MEN’S RETREAT – Called To Be Heroic Apostles in Action
All men in the Diocese of Saint John ages 19+ yrs are invited to participate in a time of teaching,
prayer and reflection, conversation, and fraternal fellowship with Mass and Adoration.
Villa Madonna Retreat House | March 20–22, 2026
Theme: On Fire with the Spirit. Sent with Purpose. Igniting Heroic Faith.
"The disciples devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers." — Acts 2:42
In an age that urgently needs courageous, grounded, and spiritually alive men, this retreat invites you to step away from the noise of daily life and rediscover what it means to live as a missionary disciple of Jesus Christ.
Over this weekend at Villa Madonna, you will be invited into a rhythm of teaching, prayer, sacramental life, fraternity, and personal reflection that mirrors the life of the early Church — and renews it for today.
This retreat is not just about personal renewal, but about being formed as a man who is sent: sent into family life, parish life, professional life, and the wider world with clarity, courage, and love.
Across five core sessions, you will be led through the four pillars of Acts 2:42 and how they shape heroic apostolic living today:
-
Thinking with the Mind of Christ — renewing how we see the world, the Church, and our mission (Romans 12:2)
-
Forming Apostolic Friendship — cultivating brotherhood that strengthens virtue and mission (Proverbs 27:17)
-
Living a Sacramental Apostolic Life — drawing daily strength from Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist (John 6:35)
-
Prayer as the Soul of Apostolic Action — learning to abide in Christ so that our action flows from communion with Him (Matthew 11:29–30)
-
Renewing the Witness of the Early Church Today — reclaiming the dynamism, unity, and missionary zeal of the first disciples (Acts 2:42–44)
Each talk is followed by table group discussion, personal prayer time, and practical integration.
A key element of the retreat is developing your own Personal Pastoral Plan — a concrete, prayerfully discerned plan to move from a mostly devotional Christian life into a life of intentional apostolic mission, rooted in your specific vocation, gifts, and circumstances.
The retreat is deeply sacramental and contemplative, including:
-
Daily celebration of the Holy Mass
-
Eucharistic Adoration (including a Holy Hour and a night of prayer for renewal in the Holy Spirit)
-
The Sacrament of Reconciliation
-
The Rosary and Angelus
-
Extended time for silence, reflection, and intentional conversation
This retreat is for Catholic men who desire:
-
A deeper relationship with Jesus Christ
-
Greater clarity about their mission as men, husbands, fathers, and leaders
-
Brotherhood and encouragement in the spiritual life
-
A faith that moves beyond maintenance into joyful mission
Whether you feel dry, restless, on fire, or searching — this retreat is a place to encounter Christ anew and be sent again.
You’ll be accompanied by a team of experienced Catholic leaders:
-
Fr. Daren Bryk, CC — priest with 25 years of ministry, spiritual director, and university chaplain, speaking on living a sacramental apostolic life
